The Blog I Almost Quit (and Why I Didn’t)

Lately, I've been sitting with a question that's been pulling at me: Do I even want to keep writing this blog?
When I first started it, it was a full-on passion project. I had the time and energy to dive into topics I loved, research them like a mini wellness scientist, and try to offer something helpful to the world. But life happened. College got chaotic, my schedule filled up, and suddenly writing started to feel less like a creative outlet and more like another to-do list item I was failing to check off. But here's where I've landed: I'm not done with this blog. Not even close. I just want to do it differently. Instead of writing like I have all the answers (because I definitely don't), I'm going to share my experiences, what I'm learning, what's helping me, what's not, and the moments where I feel like I'm falling apart a little — but figuring it out anyway. Because honestly? I think it's time we make more space for that kind of honesty. The kind that reminds us we're human first, not highlight reels.
There's so much pressure — especially in this digital age — to appear as though we've got it all together. But I've been thinking: Who are we listening to? That "life coach" on our feed whom we don't know and have never met? Or your own body that's been quietly trying to tell you what it needs? Your body knows. If we slow down enough, it will tell us what's up — whether it needs rest, food, movement, connection, or just a deep breath. However, we've become so accustomed to outsourcing our wellness to strangers on the internet that we forget to tune in.
And just while I'm at it: those "What I Eat in a Day" or "Day in My Life" videos? Just a reminder that they are one tiny, curated snapshot. No one's showing the dishes in the sink, the late-night stress cries, or the missed workouts. Every single person I know (myself included) has had days where they've felt overwhelmed, broken down, unmotivated, missed a deadline, canceled plans, not listened to their body, or felt completely unsure about what comes next. That's real life. That's your life.
So no, I'm not here to tell you to unfollow influencers or delete your social media (I certainly haven't). I want to remind you — and honestly, remind myself — that no one is perfect, and we don't have to be. Your life is beautifully, uniquely your own. You're allowed to honor that. You're allowed to listen to your own rhythms. You're allowed to take up space in your messy, real, evolving story. Anyway, those are my thoughts while I sip on a latte in a cozy coffee shop downtown.
xo,
Lynsey
