"Unlocking Potential: Harnessing the Power of Positive Affirmations"

Updated: Feb 21

The Power of Positive Affirmations The Power of Positive Affirmations Have you ever heard the saying, "You are what you think"? Well, that statement has a lot of truth, so let's talk about Positive affirmations! What are they, and how might they help?

As a young woman, at times, I have found myself questioning my worth, doubting my choices, and feeling bad about myself, but positive affirmations have helped me silence that negative self-talk by re-centering my focus to a more positive place.

After reading "The Combined Effects of Self-affirmations and Gratitude Interventions on the Well-being Scores of Mental Health Professionals," I better understood why positive affirmations positively affect human mental health and well-being. Positive affirmations have been linked to greater self-confidence and open mindsets. They can help limit one's doubts about oneself.

Some examples of affirmations are...

  • I am in control

  • I am enough

  • I am grateful for my body

  • I deserve a fulfilling life

  • I am strong

  • I can handle anything

By practicing gratitude and positive self-talk, we can lower feelings of anxiety and increase their self-esteem. Gratitude can be defined as a profound feeling of thankfulness. Self Affirmation can be defined as practices that support self-adequacy. I am obsessed with the app I Am, which provides me with daily positive affirmations throughout the day by a subtle notification. The consistent practice of self-affirmation is key to having success with this process.

All people should be able to reroute negative self-talk and turn their critical emotions into a positive and uplifting inner monolog. The great thing about positive affirmations is that you can do them at any time in any place. Pull out your notes app and write down five things you are capable of, deserve, or embody, then read them back as facts because, believe it or not, THEY ARE! It takes time to rewire a mindset, but remember, good things come to those who wait. Be patient
